ALMOST put together. I have to hang art on the walls, and clean up some trash, but most of the hard work is done!!!

Living room

Electricians, sewage, and more

The electricians came today and installed our canned lights in the kitchen, it is amazing how much brighter it is in there now. 

We found out that even though we didn't have to get a new panel, it was going to be hard to run the wire for the new dedicated circuits. So we had to demo a soffit in our finished basement. Will did this with ease, but found out it was propping up a miss angled rusted out sewer pipe, as he took out the brace.

I have no pictures of the mess he endured.

So, we had also finished the molding and floor in Huck's room. Pictures below

And we got a new fancy vent.

Tomorrow more electricians and hopefully a plumber.

It all comes down to tomorrow

Months of work, planning, blood and tears and it all comes down to tomorrow. The electrician comes to get our kitchen to code and install more canned lights in the kitchen and dining room. We'll find out if we have to add another electrical panel or not, and how badly our kitchen is out of compliance.

In other news. The flooring is down, molding is down and mostly patched in all the other rooms. Living Room, Hall, Master Bedroom, my Office, and the guest room. All the rooms have been painted. And by the end of the week we should have the cabinets installed. Week after that the floor should be done in the kitchen and hopefully by the 2nd week in September we'll have countertops.

I don't know what I will do with all the free time I'll have. Maybe take pictures for fun again, read a book, watch TV - we are finishing just in time for the season premiere of the Big Bang Theory!

Office done!

It is 95% back together. We are switching out the couch (that Louise is laying on) for a chair from downstairs, and adding a side table, but for all intents and purposes it is done!!

I do have more art for the walls, but I am waiting for some of it to get framed.

A day of plenty

Started off pretty good, Mom and I touched up paint in the hall, and then the cabinets were delivered,

Then we noticed that the paint we used in the hall for touch up made big dark spots on the wall - we used the bedroom paint, instead of the hall paint. So, we added "Paint the hall" to the chore list and got started. 

Not long after the door bell rang, and it was our new stove!!

It's almost 9pm, and we are done for the night. Will got the rotten subfloor replaced, and a lot of the adhesive from the old linoleum scraped up. Tomorrow - paint the kitchen, order backsplash tile, pendant lights, and under cabinet lighting!

This is never a good sign...

Midway through last week and we have tarps on the roof, rain in the house....

and a Tree on the fence...

Project on hold until the insurance adjuster comes out next week.

Living Room - Almost done!!

I am so proud of Will for his work!

No more carpet!!!!

As of last night, at 11pm our house is carpet free. I am so excited (and exhausted)

Big weekend.

Not only did we help Will's sister Carol move, Will got some of the living room floor down yesterday, and Mom and I got the carpet in Huck's room torn up as well!

I also got the tiles ordered to cover the brick on the fireplace

And the stove ordered!!

Feels like day 100

We got the living room painted, and trim all finished up. 

Big news is that round 1 of the flooring is in, 4 days early!! Round 2 of the flooring should be here tomorrow or Friday. We put 61 boxes of flooring in my Dad's 1994 S-10 pick up and our Kia. Heavy load.

Bigger news, the cabinet manufacturer called and said our cabinets could ship as early as the first week of July. We were thinking more like the first week of August. That will reek havoc on a project plan.

Tile selection for the fireplace surround. Only 7 inch strips on three sides under the mantel. The circles are 3/4 inch each. Our friend Nancy is going to help us install!! 

Day 2

So yesterday we got the carpet from the living room out, and the old laminate out of the hall. Both are at the dump! Today we went to get paint for the living room, and supplies to redo the fireplace!

This project keeps growing, and growing. Late last night we decided to tear out the carpet in all the upstairs rooms (2 bedrooms, and an office) and replace all the flooring with laminate hardwood.

Biggest stumbling block so far is the crazy-stupid amount of junk I am finding in our house. Goodwill and the dump get ready!!

Demo begins

What can we do ourselves...

Got the quote on labor yesterday, and have a bit of sticker shock.

We've started going through it to see where we can cut things down or out. Think for sure we are doing the demolition ourselves, and it looks like we are also laying the laminate floor. Also I think we are going to recruit friends to help with the backsplash. (Any takers?)

Having to rethink replacing the window (not sure we can do this one ourselves or not).

I am ready to get started, but Will says I can't tear anything out this weekend :(
